Two female students from FUGUS kidnapped by bandits

In a disturbing incident, two female students of the Federal University, Gusau were kidnapped from their hostel by gunmen on April 2, 2023. The incident took place at Sabon Gida village in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

According to a statement from the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Mohammed Shehu, the gunmen invaded the hostel where the two female FUGUS students were residing at around 1 am on Sunday. They locked up the security guards and proceeded to abduct the students, taking them to an unknown location. The police have yet to make any arrests in connection with the kidnapping, and investigations into the incident are ongoing.

Reportedly, the kidnappers took the security guards’ phones and locked them up before abducting the two students from the Department of Microbiology at their rented hostel. The police arrived at the scene after the incident had occurred, and the kidnappers had already fled with the victims.

According to the police spokesperson, SP Mohammed Shehu, the Commissioner of Police, CP Kolo Yusuf, has assured the public, the victims’ families, and the university management that efforts are underway to rescue the kidnapped students. The police are appealing for support from members of the public to assist them in their efforts to rescue the students and bring the perpetrators to justice. The statement further emphasized the police’s commitment to ensuring the safety and security of the public in the state.
