JAMB UTME Subject Combination for Agriculture (2026)
To study a course under the Faculty of Agriculture, the core UTME subjects required are:
- Use of English
- Chemistry
- Biology or Agricultural Science
- And one of either Physics or Mathematics
However, some universities have specific requirements. For instance, institutions like University of Ilorin (UNILORIN), Usmanu Danfodiyo University (UDU), and Imo State University (IMSU) accept Economics or Geography in place of Physics or Mathematics. Afe Babalola University (ABUAD) requires Chemistry, Biology, and Mathematics. Therefore, it’s important to check the specific subject requirements of the university you are applying to.
O’Level Requirements for Agriculture UTME Candidates (2026)
Generally, most institutions require five (5) SSC credit passes, which must include:
- English Language
- Biology or Agricultural Science
- Chemistry
- And any one of Mathematics, Physics, Geography, or Economics
Some universities have unique requirements. For example, University of Ibadan (UI) requires five credits including English Language, Biology or Agricultural Science, Chemistry, Mathematics, and one of Geography, Physics, or Economics. IMSU accepts a pass in Mathematics if the candidate has a credit in Physics, and vice versa. These variations should be carefully considered when preparing for admission.
Requirements for Direct Entry Candidates (2026)
Candidates applying through Direct Entry must have two (2) A-Level passes in Chemistry and one of the following: Biology, Botany, Zoology, Agricultural Science, Economics, Physics, Geography, Geology, or Mathematics (Pure & Applied).
Additionally, some institutions have specific requirements. For example, University of Ibadan (UI) and Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (MOUAU) accept ND or HND in related disciplines. At UI, candidates must initially apply to study Agriculture, and specialization options will be available at the 500 level. Institutions like Lapai (LAPAI) and University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) require A-Level passes in both Chemistry and Biology.
