ASUU calls for an indefinite strike at TASU, halting all academic activities.
The ASUU chapter in Taraba State University has commenced a total and indefinite strike in protest of the government’s failure to pay their salaries and earned allowances.
Dr. Samuel Shitaa, the chairman of ASUU at Taraba State University, stated that the strike was necessary due to the state government’s denial of owing workers salaries and earned allowances.
According to Dr. Samuel Shitaa, the TASU ASUU chairman, the union is unhappy about the government’s inability to pay earned academic allowances, promotion arrears, fractional payment of salaries to staff, and unsettled staff pension and gratuity scheme.
He also cited the non-implementation of agreements and perimeter fencing of the institution as other reasons for the strike.
