Graduating from a university is a prerequisite for being mobilized for the National Youth Service Corps. However, NYSC is known for teaching an important lesson – there are different types of graduates.
Here are some of the types of graduates you might meet in NYSC camp:
- The Articulate Ones:
These graduates lead by example. They are brilliant, or at least good at solving problems without any issues. They speak proper English and are admired by other graduates.
- The Unknown Institution Graduates:
You might wonder whether their institution exists or not. Their alma mater might have a weird name that leaves you guessing whether it’s a Nigerian institution or not.
- The Spelling Bee Challengers:
These graduates can’t spell ‘corper’ correctly. They struggle with basic English and are often the butt of jokes in camp.

These graduates can’t write a proper letter or sign the book of life, and always look for someone to copy from.
